Famous Figures of Ancient Times
Famous Figures of Ancient Times by Cathy Diez-Luckie [Figures in Motion, 2009] is a unique book that provides teachers and parents a way to introduce children to a few of the famous people from history. This book has 20 figures to cut out and fasten together, allowing children to learn through play.
Each figure has a full color option if a child does not wish to color. The figures are printed on heavy card stock with clear directions that make it easy to assemble. While each page does punch out of the book, the figures themselves do not punch-out, requiring children or adults the tedious task of maneuvering scissors around the details of each piece of a figure on a crowded page.
These figures provide tactile learners an opportunity to manipulate figures from history and make what once was perceived as “boring” book learning into fun and games. The extras provided in the book allow parents and teachers the resources to teach the children about each figure. Children are also invited to join the Figures in Motion Club where they can receive additional resources relating to history, geography and more.
