During Reading Strategies
Here is a list of strategies students can complete while reading a story.
- Ask questions about what you are reading and try to answer them as you go along
- Go back and reread parts of the story that o not seem to match what you already know about the topic
- If you do not understand something in a selection, keep reading to see if you can make sense of what is happening
- If you do not understand something, slow down your reading rate
- When your mind begins to wander, go back and reread
- While reading, check for understanding by putting what you are reading into your own words
- While reading, go back and reread parts of the story that do not make sense at first
- While reading, look at pictures and charts to help you understand what you are reading
- While reading make predictions about what will happen next in the sorry
- While reading try to picture what is being described.
